The Future

So where do we go from here?

Aurum Organic is working towards reducing our Carbon Footprint and seeking out new ways to minimize our impact on the environment. As we find solutions to some of our shortcomings, we will not only implement them, but we will share them with everyone else. Our Carbon Neutral Program will be transparent and available to all our customers who partner with us. It will include the all the information we gather to manufacture our products from the field to your shelf.

One area that we have focused on is the ability to provide solutions to embellish our products that are environmentally friendly. We educate decorators that purchase our blank products and encourage them to print with PVC-free, Phthalate-free and water-base inks, finishing with a product that exceeds all requirements of the United States Consumer Safety Improvement Act (CPSIA) of 2008. As well as embroidery that is OKEO-Tex certified with recycled or eco-friendly backing. We also work closely with printers that have been certified to print for us using water base highly certified inks. One day we hope all decorators will be able to embellish on our products.

By carefully monitoring our products from seed to consumer, we will be able to implement a recycling program. Textile waste amounts to 1 million ton a year sent to municipal landfills. Although it can take as little as 2 weeks for 100% cotton to decompose, the environmental impact it has is much less than products made with polyester that will never biodegrade, ever. The benefits of recycling are enormous from both an environmental and economic standpoint. We can reduce the waste in landfill, the use of virgin material, and new markets will evolve. The benefits do not end there, by using eco-friendly finishing techniques it makes it easier to reclaim products and reuse all of the pieces. This becomes a true cradle to grave product.

As our company grows we look forward to introducing new energy saving initiatives in our manufacturing, warehousing and offices. We plan to introduce additional solar and wind energy and rain collectors to utilize reusable water for toilets and watering plants in the office. The goal is to minimize our carbon footprint and maximize our quality of life. We want to be carbon neutral through natural development. Eventually all of our products will be carbon neutral, but until then we will continue to help our customers enjoy the benefits of offsetting their purchases through programs that have a meaningful impact to them and their customer base.
